Expertise provided by Jocelyn Ricard

Jocelyn Ricard, consulting engineer

Consulting engineer Jocelyn Ricard is firmly rooted in the region and has been working to bring solutions to a broad range of civil engineering projects.

For the last ten years, his team has worked on an independent basis to raise the effectiveness of decisions by their clients, who are active in land use, environmental protection and sustainable development.

For its collaborators and clients, the firm emphasizes:
  • Finding the best technical solutions at the lowest cost based on project functions.
  • Listening to clients and being involved alongside them in their projects.
Experience acquired over the years has enabled the firm to develop expertise in various disciplines.
The range of services includes:
  • Feasibility studies and preliminary design
  • Estimates of the cost of work
  • Design and preparation of plans and specifications
  • Services during construction
  • Consulting service and expertise
Long-term dealings with various government departments enable the firm to speed up the authorization acceptance process. Most construction work in municipal, environmental, hydraulic and agricultural engineering requires the issuance of authorizations from the department of sustainable development, environment and parks, the department of agriculture, fisheries and food, and the Quebec hydraulic expertise centre.

Increasingly tough standards and requirements demand knowledge of regulations and technical restrictions so that files can advance more quickly and move ahead harmoniously.

Respect for clients’ economic realities and for technical and environmental standards is a guarantee of the investment that goes into our services. Personalized service qualifies the firm to conduct any engineering project successfully, within its area of specialization.

AREAS OF ACTIVITY

The execution of specific mandates has enabled the firm’s staff to work in various areas of civil engineering. The most important of these are listed below: HOW WE WORK

Each mandate entrusted to the firm is handled immediately. The project leader develops an action plan, and the search for a solution begins. Technicians and draftsmen are supervised at all times by the project leader in preparing the mandates.

The steps leading to the completion of construction work are as follows:
  1. Definition of the mandate
  2. Site survey and data collection
  3. Preparatory studies
  4. Establishment of design criteria
  5. Preparation of preliminary plans
  6. Preliminary cost estimates
  7. Development of final plans and specifications
  8. Tenders, analyses and recommendations
  9. Studies of studio designs
  10. Monitoring or work and control of work quality, costs and timelines
  11. Closing of the file (related documentation and designs as built)
All documents from the various stages are checked by the person who prepared them, and by the project engineer. This brings about close attention to compliance with plans and specifications.

TOOLS

We do topographical surveys ourselves. We have our own instruments (total stations, rotating levels) and qualified staff for this work. We ensure accurate surveys that correspond to actual conditions.

The use of computer tools for design, management and production of drawings optimize project fulfilment and leads to products of constant quality that comply with deadlines.

EXTERNAL RESOURCES

An architect’s office and a mechanical and electrical engineer’s office can join our firm for more complex projects.

Contacts with various stakeholders are handled by the project manager. All communications exchanged in connection with the projects are made known to the project manager, putting all data concerning the project in his hands and giving him command over all aspects. Coordination between stakeholders is assured by the project manager, catalyzing the dynamics of multidisciplinary teams.
